Active modernization of workshops has begun at the "ODK-Perm Motors" enterprise (part of the United Engine Corporation of Rostec), according to journalist Anton Borisov. According to him, this will help increase production volumes and significantly reduce the cost of advanced aviation power units — PD-8, PD-14 and PD-35.
Borisov noted that the modernization will affect the production of PD-14 engines, which will be installed on the new Russian aircraft MS-21, as well as PS-90A for Il-96.
The PD-14 engine is the result of a complex and lengthy process, during which engineers replaced many components and conducted repeated tests.
But the engine exists. And it will definitely be delivered. And we will definitely fly on it.
The company is also developing a more powerful PD-35, designed for long-range aircraft. However, at the moment there are no such aircraft in Russia.
To replace four engines with two on the Il-96, like on the Boeing-777, you essentially need to build a new aircraft. The engines are there, the aircraft are there. The tests have been passed. We will fly.
Both new engines, including the PD-8 for the Superjet, have export potential, Borisov concluded.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the construction of 7 new aircraft, 3 helicopters and 6 aircraft engines is being completed in Russia.
