Russia is the only country in the world where laser systems "Peresvet" are in service and on combat duty in the nuclear deterrence forces. However, anti-drone laser air defense (air defense) systems are also in the process of being mass-produced.
The task of "Peresvet" is not to shoot down satellites or missiles, but to blind them. The complex performs "functional destruction", after which the reconnaissance device is not able to perform tasks.
Work is also actively underway to create laser combat systems that could engage drones and other objects.
Back in the summer, there were reports of testing a laser system that could burn out drone cameras and destroy the devices themselves as they approached the target. The range of the complex is up to 6 km. The details of the design have not yet been disclosed, but it is clear that since the system has been tested, it may soon go into mass production.
Rocket engineer Alexander Vasiliev explained that laser air defense systemscannot be oversaturated with false targets, this is an undeniable advantage over anti-aircraft systems.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the revolutionary drone "Klyuch" was developed in Russia.
