Students and teachers of the Baltic Federal University named after Kant restored a rare Soviet amphibious vehicle LuAZ-967. The exhibit will be transferred to the military for combat missions, Krasnaya Zvezda reported.
50 cadets of the military training center worked on the transporter. The students completely updated the wiring, rebuilt the engine and the chassis of the amphibian.
The rector of the university, Maxim Demin, noted that the university literally "breathed new life" into the rare car.
This is a unique technique, capable of moving on land and water. We know that "behind the tape" such machines are worth their weight in gold.
As a reminder, in the USSR, the LuAZ-967 was developed by special order of the Airborne Forces, the first cars saw the light in 1965. The amphibian is designed for the delivery of ammunition and evacuation, but the open body with a folding steering column allows the installation of various weapons, including a machine gun.
