Construction Timeline Announced for PD-35 Aircraft Engine Test Stand

Ministry of Industry and Trade Approves Schedule for Creating the Unit's Test Bench

Russia will begin constructing a test stand for the high-power PD-35 aircraft engine in 2026, according to the Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Anton Alikhanov.

He explained that before the unit can enter mass production, the engine itself needs to be developed first. The construction of the test bench will begin in 2026.

The demonstrator engine already exists and has shown outstanding results. The test bench, the first stand on which the demonstrator was tested, has already been created. However, a large testing program is still a very complex technical device, so next year we are starting to finance the construction of the engine test stand.

The Minister added that the PD-35 development program is being implemented in accordance with the approved schedule for the test bench.

In 2018, it was reported that UEC allocated 64.3 billion rubles for research, development, and design work (R&D) to create the PD-35 ultra-high thrust engine. It delivered a thrust of 37 tons at the stand, according to aviation expert Oleg Panteleev.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that Russia is completing the construction of 7 new aircraft, 3 helicopters, and 6 aircraft engines.
