After the van - an SUV: Russo-Balt plans

Start of deliveries scheduled for 2027

The company "Russo-Balt" from Perm, which gained fame thanks to the project of an electric van with a design in the style of Tesla Cybertruck, is planning to expand its model line. As the company told Auto.ru Magazine, in 2027 the brand will present an SUV on its own platform. Russo-Balt calls the future model unique for both the Russian automotive industry and the global market.

The novelty is based on a platform developed by the company with an independent suspension, designed for bodies up to 5960 mm long. Such dimensions will be received by the planned minibus, while the SUV, according to preliminary data, will be more compact. The electric power plant includes two motors with a total capacity of 400 hp. Driving the car will be possible with a category B driver's license.

As with other Russo-Balt models, the SUV's body will be assembled from stainless steel panels. For this, AISI 304 steel with a thickness of 3 mm, resistant to corrosion, will be used. The company intends to provide a warranty on the body for up to 100 years. The general warranty for the car will be 3 years or 200 thousand km of mileage, for a traction battery with a capacity of 115 kWh - 5 years without mileage restrictions with an estimated service life of 12 years.

Russo-Balt plans to reveal the appearance of the SUV in May of this year. The brand's first production model will be a commercial electric van, renderings of which have already been published. Later, the line will be supplemented by a passenger minibus. The company plans to issue full type approval certificates for all three electric vehicles.
