The Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA) has appointed Alexander Silin as the new chief designer of the problematic LMS-901 "Baikal" aircraft, replacing Vadim Demin. This was reported by the company's press service.
Demin oversaw the development of "Baikal" from the very beginning. What Silin was doing before the reshuffle is not specified.
The reasons for the reshuffle are not named, and aviation experts considered this decision unexpected. In particular, the editor-in-chief of the Frequentflyers.ru portal, Ilya Shatilin, recalled that the chief designer is being changed against the backdrop of reports that the aircraft is being built on schedule, and the first deliveries to airlines should take place next year.
Arutyun Sarkisyan, Head of Restructuring and Bankruptcy at "Nextons STP", did not rule out that the reasons for Demin's removal from the project management could be personal or managerial.
The "Baikal" aircraft is planned to be put on the market as early as 2026, and it should replace the Soviet AN-2 " кукурузник".
At the same time, the head of "Rusaviaprom", Alexey Kryukov, stated that today the "Baikal" "has no heart, no engine." Certification procedures in this project may take another two or three years to the right.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Irkutsk Aviation Plant has radically updated the electrical systems of the Yak-130M.
