The Russian corporation VSMPO-Avisma plans to build a modern automated complex for processing titanium products in the city of Verkhnyaya Salda, Sverdlovsk Region. A key feature of the new workshop is its environmental friendliness, the company noted.
VSMPO-Avisma has already begun preparations for the project, which will improve the current titanium processing system.
The new line will be equipped with baths with automatic lids that open only when products are fed and removed, as well as side exhaust vents for vapors. All exhaust ventilation systems will be equipped with absorption filters, providing effective cleaning of the removed air and corresponding to the best available technologies in Russia for air purification.
Andrey Golovin, Head of the Central Testing Laboratory of the Environmental Protection and Industrial Safety Management System, noted that VSMPO-Avisma is currently studying the project documentation.
Particular attention is paid to environmental aspects, we are implementing the most advanced technologies that minimize the negative impact on the environment.
With the launch of the new pickling complex, equipped with modern automated equipment, the previously used tents will be decommissioned, which will significantly improve the environmental performance at the enterprise.
It should be noted that titanium is used in the aviation industry in the production of the tail section, wing, chassis and fuselage of an aircraft. VSMPO-Avisma also produces titanium semi-finished products for domestic PD-8 and PD-14 engines for MS-21 and Superjet 100 aircraft.
