Ural motorcycle manufacturer has been incurring losses on every motorcycle sold for the second year in a row, according to the company's owner, Ilya Khait.
The main enterprise in Irbit (Sverdlovsk region) has been switched to a limited mode of operation - priority is given to supplying the domestic market and exporting spare parts. Finished motorcycles have not been exported from Russia for three years due to sanctions, and the duplicate production in Kazakhstan has not met expectations.
The Irbit Motorcycle Plant (IMZ) sees hope in cooperation with the Chinese company Yingang. As part of the partnership, a modern Ural Neo 500 model will be produced in China, which may help the brand return to the global market.
