Road of the Future: M-11 Being Prepared for the Launch of Russia's First "Electric Corridor"

For now, the format is being considered only for the Moscow-St. Petersburg route

The M-11 highway between Moscow and St. Petersburg could become Russia's first full-fledged "electric corridor" for electric vehicles. Anastasia Kozlova, CEO of Avtodor-Development, spoke about this at the forum "Electro // Movement".

This refers to the creation of a network of charging hubs along the entire highway so that electric vehicle owners can travel the route without range limitations. RusGidro is expected to take part in the project.

So far, this is the only route being considered for such a format. There are no plans to rush the expansion of the practice to other highways — to the south, west, or east.

The reason is economics. The flow of electric vehicles in Russia is still insufficient to recoup large-scale investments. At the same time, the key problem is not the cost of the charging stations themselves, but connection to high-capacity power sources along the highway.
