Yandex has shown what the car of the future could become: Yandex Auto is turning into a full-fledged AI platform, where Alice acts not just as a voice assistant, but as an active driver assistant. The concept was presented at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition.
The main idea is to make interaction with the car proactive. Alice will be able to suggest solutions on its own, taking into account the route, the traffic situation, and the condition of the vehicle.
For example, when planning a trip, the assistant will not simply build a route, but will suggest stops along the way, show the weather, and even help book a hotel — without any additional commands.
During the trip, the system will respond to the context: if the driver is running late for a meeting, Alice will warn about it, suggest an alternative route, or help reschedule a restaurant reservation.
A separate emphasis is placed on monitoring the car's condition. If fuel is running low or fault signals appear, the assistant will itself suggest where to refuel or contact a service center.
The system will also become personalized: Alice will be able to recognize who exactly is addressing it and adapt to the user — from routes to music.
The new features are planned to be introduced gradually in future car models.
