With the support of the country's top officials, additional funds will be invested in the development of the promising PD-35 aircraft engine. This opinion was expressed by Oleg Smirnov, Chairman of the Commission on Civil Aviation of the Public Council of Rostransnadzor, former Deputy Minister of Civil Aviation.
He recalled that in September 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting in Samara on the issues of engine building.
And with the help of the president's fist hitting the table, additional investments will follow in order to complete the PD-35 and bring to serial production an engine that has no equal in the world in terms of power and other parameters.
Smirnov added that new aircraft can already be designed under the PD-35. The engine will become a new important factor in the country's engineering independence.
Russia is on the verge of the take-off of our civil aviation - and there is very little left for Putin to bang his fist on the table. Otherwise, officials, out of habit, are dragging their feet for some reason.
When creating the PD-35, the scientific and technical groundwork based on the results of the development of the fifth-generation PD-14 engine was used as much as possible. At the same time,20 new critical technologies are being developed, including the creation of new coatings, materials, manufacturing and design technologies, as well as structural solutions.
Earlierwww1.ru reported that 54.47 billion rubles were found for scientific work for the aviation industry.
