The appearance of the PD-35 technology demonstrator engine opened a new stage in the development of domestic engine building for Russian aviation. Thanks to it, it became possible to form the basis for creating heavy transport and wide-body passenger aircraft.
The design of the PD-35 is based on the widespread use of composite materials and the principles of modularity. The fan diameter is 3100 mm, carbon fiber blades reduced the weight of the unit by more than 600 kg compared to titanium alloy blades.
The use of new heat-resistant materials and additive technologies has increased the service life and reliability of components. For real-time diagnostics and optimization of operating modes, the engine uses a FADEC digital control system.
The turbine blades of the PD-35 engine are capable of operating at high temperatures. By analogy with the PD-14 engine, where the high-pressure turbine blades operate at temperatures up to 1900°K (approximately 1627°C), the gas temperature in front of the turbine in the PD-35 will be close to 2000°K (1727°C).
The PD-35 gas generator allows the creation of new engines from 24 to 38 tons. All design, testing and technological measures are laid down for the maximum engine thrust of 50 tons.
Earlier www1.ru reported that certification of the Il-114-300 has reached the finish line.
