«Until the fried rooster pecks»: the state of affairs in Russian civil aviation revealed

Academician Chernyshev: Russia is capable of achieving import substitution in aircraft construction in a short time

The Russian aviation industry has proven that, in case of critical need, it is capable of achieving high results in the production of both liners and components for them. This was stated by the scientific director of TsAGI named after Zhukovsky, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician Sergei Chernyshev.

According to him, the course towards technological sovereignty in aviation has set difficult tasks to ensure import independence in the interests of air transport.

We have passed the stage of international division of labor and globalization, when it was believed that you can always buy the best components of a complex product on the market and assemble a machine, car or airplane from them. Yes, of course, producing absolutely everything yourself is not the most effective way. But at a minimum, we should be talking about creating critical elements for each industry.
Sergei Chernyshev, Academician

The specialist emphasized that no one will help Russia in this matter and we have to rely only on ourselves. The only right way is the speedy introduction of scientific achievements into new developments.

The main difference of the Russian approach is that in extreme conditions we are able to achieve good results in a short time. As they say, «until the fried rooster pecks...». But the fact remains that the import substitution program in aircraft construction is being implemented in an extremely short time and with good results.
