UEC masters two new technologies in the construction of the PD-14 aircraft engine

Their use made it possible to increase efficiency and reduce the weight of power plants

During the construction of the advanced PD-14 aircraft engine, specialists from the United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of Rostec) mastered several new technologies that significantly reduced weight and increased the efficiency of the power plant. This was announced by the General Designer of UEC, Yuri Shmotin.

If we turn to the specific technologies that we have mastered in recent years, it is the technology of a wide-chord fan blade. The use of a bladeless fan blade allows for greater efficiency and performance of the fan and low-pressure compressor with fewer blades.

According to him, the next step in this direction was the use of hollow fan blade technology, which reduces weight. It is used in the modern PD-14 engine.

PD-14 and PD-8 produced by UEC are modern Russian world-class aircraft engines. Power units will ensure the country's technological sovereignty in aircraft engine construction.

In April, flights of the import-substituted short-range Superjet with PD-8 and the medium-range MS-21 with PD-14, which are important for the development of domestic aviation, took place.

Advanced technologies and materials developed by specialists from UEC enterprises in conjunction with scientific institutions were used to create new Russian engines.

Earlier www1.ru reported that there are no foreign parts left in the SJ-100 aircraft.
