"Ural" continues to work on its project of an Arctic road train designed for off-road travel in temperatures up to 50 degrees below zero. The motor vehicle has received a patent — it is in the database of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property.
The development of a unique carrier with a 6x6 wheel arrangement and a trailer with its own power unit, which can become anything from a lecture hall to a mobile medical clinic, became known more than a year ago. "Pervyi Technicheskiy" has already reported on what is inside this Arctic road train, which "Ural" created jointly with SUSU and MSTU named after N.E. Bauman.
In December 2023, this promising road train with an electric winch for eight tons, capable of overcoming a ford up to 1.3 meters, went on field tests. It successfully withstood the Arctic off-road conditions and freezing temperatures. The timing of the launch of mass production of the Arctic road train has not yet been announced.
The Arctic road train has a relative in the line of "Ural" developments. This is the first Russian Arctic bus, which is being released into mass production this year.
