Scientists from the Ural State University of Railway Transport (UrGUPS) and specialists from the Sinara – Transport Machines (STM) holding will develop an artificial intelligence (AI)-based diagnostic system for rolling stock.

The intelligent complex will analyze the condition of locomotives and individual components in real time. The system will take into account data on rolling stock operation and information on previously performed repairs. The information will be provided by STM-Service (part of STM).
The collected data will allow specialists to form an objective forecast: take preventive measures, accurately determine the need for repairs, and optimize their schedule.
The algorithm is planned to be developed and tested by the end of 2026. In the first stage, a diagnostic system will be created for the 2ES10 "Granit" two-section freight electric locomotive. Next year, it will be scaled to other locomotives.
