The LMS-901 Baikal aircraft and specialized drones have been proposed to be combined into a single complex for fighting forest fires. The "Ogneborets" concept was presented by the "Aerokhimflot" aviation alliance at a conference in Krasnoyarsk Krai on October 15. The idea is for the manned aircraft to perform the main firefighting tasks, while drones with optical and thermal imaging cameras operate in dangerous zones and help detect fire sources.

For drones, a "flying wing" scheme and special communication equipment are proposed. They will require sufficient payload capacity and autonomy, as well as the ability to operate at high temperatures and heavy smoke. The concept developers want to move away from using ordinary civilian drones, adapted mainly for observation, and form separate technical requirements for forest aviation.
In conjunction with the aircraft, drones should expand aerial reconnaissance capabilities and help crews operate in difficult conditions. "Aerokhimflot" considers the joint use of manned and unmanned aerial vehicles as a single system, rather than a set of independent monitoring and extinguishing tools.
At the conference at Shushenskoye airfield, participants also discussed requirements for firefighting unmanned systems and the safety of joint flights. The event was attended by representatives of UZGA, relevant departments, aerial forest protection, and Russian developers of unmanned aviation.
