Russians who have already registered accounts on domestic services using foreign email will be able to continue using them. The new authorization rules, which came into force on July 7, do not provide for the disconnection of such accounts, explained Sergey Boyarsky, head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy.
The law does not prohibit users from retaining access to already created accounts, even if foreign email was used during registration, the State Duma reminded.
If someone once registered with a foreign email, it means - we, of course, welcome the transition to domestic solutions - nevertheless, it will be possible to continue working.
The new requirements primarily concern owners of Russian websites and services. The law introduces liability for resources that allow creating new accounts through foreign email services if such a possibility does not comply with the established rules.
According to current legislation, Russian websites must use a Russian phone number, a unified public services portal, a unified biometric system, or another information system belonging to a citizen of the Russian Federation or a Russian organization for user login.
For violating these requirements, fines of up to 700 thousand rubles are provided for owners of Russian resources from July 7.
