At the Advanced Engineering School "Engines of the Future" of the Ufa University of Science and Technology (UUST), the development of an integrated starter-generator for promising Russian aircraft engines PD-26 and PD-35 has been completed. According to the government of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the new device surpasses existing foreign analogues in key characteristics.
The integrated design combines the functions of engine starting and power generation in a single unit, which reduced the weight of the power plant, increased its reliability and increased specific power.
According to Mikhail Okhotnikov, Director of the Engineering School "Engines of the Future", the work on creating design and technological documentation has been completed, a prototype has been manufactured, and phased tests are already demonstrating reaching the calculated parameters. The project is being implemented in close cooperation with industry partners.
Prime Minister of Bashkortostan Andrei Nazarov noted that such technologies are available only to a few countries in the world, and the Ufa solution opens up opportunities for creating domestic aviation platforms of a new generation with increased fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness.
The new starter-generator is seen as a key element in the formation of competitive Russian aircraft engines, capable of ensuring autonomy from imported components and increasing the overall efficiency of aircraft.
