Experts in the field of aviation systems have discovered new details about the configuration of the Su-57 flight prototype with the index T-50-9. Particular attention was drawn to the turret laser-beam module of optical-electronic countermeasures 101KS-O, located immediately behind the cockpit. According to analysts, the element of the 101KS "Atoll" defense complex indicates the continuation of active development of technologies to counter modern missile threats.
Specialists note that the 101KS-O module is designed to suppress infrared, ultraviolet, and television homing heads of SAMs and tactical missiles, as well as IR sensors of intercepting UAVs operating from the upper hemisphere. Experts emphasize that its operating principle is similar to the L-370-5 module and is based on the formation of a high-precision laser pulse that disrupts the operation of enemy homing systems.
According to specialists, targeting for the 101KS-O modules is provided by ultraviolet sensors 101KS-U/01 and 101KS-U/02, which are part of a six-element aperture distributed over the aircraft's airframe. This allows the system to detect missile attacks from all directions and automatically direct the laser beam at the approaching threat.
It is separately emphasized that the 101KS-O modules in the upper and lower hemispheres are capable of countering modern IR-GSN missiles IRIS-T SLS, MICA-IR, AIM-9X and Python-5, which, according to experts, significantly increases the survivability of the fighter when operating in conditions of highly maneuverable close combat missiles.
