The Tupolev Design Bureau (part of the United Aircraft Corporation of the Rostec State Corporation) has done too little over the past 30 years to develop the Tu-214 project. This was stated to «First Technical» by aviation expert, editor-in-chief of Avia.ru portal Roman Gusarov.
At the same time, he stressed that the Tu-214 has never been deprived of attention from the state.
«Tupolev» had 30 years with the Tu-214 to develop this project. But they did so little that, in fact, it remained in the 1990s.
Gusarov stressed that the Tu-214 is actually a good aircraft. But the issue of production also lies in the economic side of the issue.
Give them [KAZ] a billion dollars, and they won’t build five aircraft. They just can’t. A woman cannot give birth in a month, even if you shower her with gold, any medicines and massages - it won’t work. It’s the same here - it won’t work. It all ends with one thing - give money. It’s amazingly обидно, especially in conditions when the country is already having a hard time. And here they are taking advantage of the situation, airlines will be walking around with their hands outstretched - but there are no aircraft.
Last week, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev announced that the Russian airline S7 had ordered more than 100 Tu-214 aircraft. However, so far in Kazan they are building one aircraft per year.
