До перевозки пассажиров ещё далеко: cамолёт «Байкал» должен налетать 100 тысяч безаварийных часов

Baikal aircraft certification expected by December 2026

Russian Deputy Minister of Transport Vladimir Poteshkin announced that the regional Baikal aircraft must log 100,000 hours without accidents before entering passenger airlines.

We support Aerokhimflot's position on the use of the LMS-901 Baikal. Before starting to transport passengers, it is desirable that the aircraft log 100,000 accident-free hours.
Vladimir Poteshkin, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation

Certification of the Baikal aircraft is expected by December 2026, which corresponds to previously announced deadlines. Initial use of the new aircraft for aviation work will reveal operational features without risks to passengers and improve the design.

The meeting also discussed other promising projects. Testing of the TVRS-44 Ladoga is scheduled to begin in Q4 2026, with certification expected in 2029. The Osvey light aircraft is expected to be certified in 2027-2029.

In early 2026, it is planned to complete the certification of the Il-114-300 and the import-substituted version of the SJ-100, after which their serial deliveries will begin.

At the same time, the Comprehensive Program for the Development of the Aviation Industry (KPIA), approved in 2024, had more ambitious plans for the production of aviation equipment. Adjustments to the program are expected in 2025, taking into account the plans and capabilities of airlines.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Baikal is rising into the sky, the VK-800 engine will be brought to readiness.
