By the end of this year, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) plans to receive nine new Mi-38 helicopters. They will be used to ensure safety in the cities of the Arctic region. This was announced to journalists by the Deputy Head of EMERCOM, Viktor Yatsutsenko.
In the near future, at the end of 2025, we will receive new class helicopters in Arctic configuration from our aviation plants — these are Mi-38s. We will receive nine of these helicopters in the near future.
Yatsutsenko noted that the delivery of the helicopters will help ensure safety in Pevek, Tiksi, Dikson, and Sabetta. According to the Deputy Minister, the Mi-38 can cover distances of up to 1.5 thousand km.
Technical characteristics of the Mi-38 helicopter:
- Maximum speed: 300 km/h.
- Cruising speed: 250 km/h.
- Maximum flight range with main fuel tanks: 880 km.
- Flight range with a load of 5,000 kg: 420 km.
- Flight range with additional fuel tanks and a load of 2,700 kg: 1200 km.
- Service ceiling: 6,300 m.
- Static hovering ceiling out of ground effect: 3,750 m.
- Maximum take-off weight: 15,600 kg.
- Maximum payload in the transport cabin: 5000 kg.
- Cabin dimensions: floor length 7000 mm, width 2360 mm, height 1840 mm, volume 29.5 m³.
- Capacity: helicopter crew — 2, passengers (economy class) — up to 30, VIP-salon — up to 12 passengers.
