The Yandex team has announced the launch of an update to its mapping services that will greatly simplify the lives of drivers. Now, users of Yandex Maps and Yandex Navigator can not only plan routes but also pay for travel on barrier-free sections of toll roads, including important highways such as the Central Ring Road (TsKAD), M12, A-289, and the Moscow High-Speed Diameter.
When building a route, users will see a notification with information about toll sections and the cost of travel. After completing the trip, they will receive a notification with the bill for payment. In Yandex Maps, the new function is available in the "Gas Stations" section — "Toll Road Payment", and in Yandex Navigator — in the "Toll Roads" section in the profile.
If the driver has a transponder, the service takes this into account. If the device is active and has sufficient funds, payment is processed as usual — through the transponder. This eliminates the risk of double charges.
To activate the function, users need to enter their car details once. After that, the application will automatically determine whether the driver is passing through toll sections. The function is also available in Yandex Go and Yandex Refuels. Information about the trip is transmitted to toll road operators, such as Avtodor-Toll Roads LLC, who confirm it.
Previously, Yandex Maps only informed about the presence of toll sections on the route and their cost. Now, the service has become a full-fledged assistant, allowing not only to plan trips but also to pay for travel.
