Half-Century-Old An-24 Crashed in Amur Region

The wreckage of the An-24 aircraft was discovered during search operations

On the morning of July 24, it became known about the crash of an An-24 aircraft of the "Angara" airline in the Amur Region, rescue teams of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations discovered the wreckage during search operations.

The Governor of the Amur Region, Vasily Orlov, reported in his Telegram channel that, according to preliminary data, there were 43 passengers on board, including 5 children, as well as 6 crew members. The fate of the passengers is still unknown.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the disappearance of the passenger plane under the article on violation of traffic safety rules and operation of air transport, resulting in the death of more than three people. The flight was en route from Khabarovsk - Blagoveshchensk - Tynda. Operational services noted that the An-24 did not send signals about possible problems in the air.

The aircraft was manufactured almost 50 years ago. In 2021, the certificate of airworthiness was extended until 2036.

As part of the Russian aviation industry development program, it is planned to produce more than a thousand aircraft, including 51 Il-114-300s, 139 Baikal aircraft, and 105 TVRS-44 Ladoga aircraft, including to replace the An-24.

In mid-July, the airline "KrasAvia" added An-24 to its own fleet. After carrying out the necessary maintenance work, the aircraft was included in the production program, and it has already started operating flights.
