Work continues on pumping fuel oil from the tanker "Volgoneft-239"

Divers are examining the sunken tanker "Volgoneft-212" to prepare for its raising to the surface

Specialists continue to pump fuel oil from the tanker "Volgoneft-239" and are completing preparations for raising the sunken tanker "Volgoneft-212".

To prepare for the raising of the second sunken tanker "Volgoneft-212", divers from the Marine Rescue Service are examining the stern of the vessel. No fuel oil leaks have been detected.

Following the diving operations, specialists received information that will help determine the priority steps for raising the sunken part of the vessel. In particular, divers measured the residual thicknesses of the outer hull plating on the port side, covering a section from the 172nd to the 103rd frame.

Work on pumping fuel oil from the tanker "Volgoneft-239" began on Monday evening. The fuel oil is loaded into sealed bitumen trucks equipped with a heating system. Eight units of equipment were involved in the work.

The fuel oil in the tanker continues to be heated to maintain the working temperature required for pumping. Filling of bitumen trucks began this morning. Five vehicles have already been sent.

Specialists from the Marine Rescue Service have completed cleaning the water from fuel oil inside the containment ring surrounding the tanker. Work continues on collecting small fractions of fuel oil.

Reports are emerging of new fuel oil spills. The Kuban operational headquarters stated that they are being recorded on the coast of the Sea of Azov.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that the stern of the tanker "Volgoneft-239" will be raised from the bottom after the fuel oil is pumped out.
