В России будут выпускать до 36 лайнеров МС-21 каждый год

However, only nine will be assembled by the end of 2025

The modernization of the PJSC Yakovlev aircraft plant in Irkutsk for the serial production of MC-21, for which more than 85 billion rubles were allocated, is in its final stage.

According to the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov, in an interview with IA "Interfax" on the eve of SPIEF-2024, it "will allow the production of up to 36 MC-21 aircraft per year."

The plans, according to the aviation industry development plan until 2030, edited in May by the government, will remain the same in terms of the number of Russian aircraft produced. Only the deliveries of flagship projects have shifted:

  • for MC-21 — to 2025. Only nine will be assembled this year. In 2026, the production volume should increase to 31 aircraft per year, and in 2027 and beyond — up to 36 aircraft per year;
  • for SJ-100 — to 2026. 30 units will be produced in 2026.
The UAC production center in Komsomolsk-on-Amur had previously produced over 30 "Superjets" per year in their imported configuration, so practice has proven that it can handle such a load. Of course, a serious challenge will also be increasing the production capacity of the entire cooperative, which produces Russian systems and units. Therefore, already in parallel with conducting research and development work, enterprises are planning capacities for the first serial machines.
Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation

In total, from 2025 to 2028, it is planned to produce 270 MC-21 aircraft and 142 SJ-100 aircraft.
