Kazan Aviation Plant (KAZ, part of PJSC "Tupolev" of the Rostec State Corporation) will not resume production of Tu-214 medium-range aircraft. This was stated in an interview with "Perviy Technicheskiy" by Honored Test Pilot of the Russian Federation, Hero of Russia Alexander Garnaev.
He drew attention to the fact that KAZ has not built a single aircraft since 2022. At the same time, Garnaev specified, the company received more than 40 billion rubles.
Therefore, no professionals seriously talk about the state of the program for the so-called revival of the Tu-214!
Aviation expert Roman Gusarov stated to "Perviy Technicheskiy" that the Tupolev Bureau has done too little for the development of the Tu-214 over the past 30 years, so new aircraft should not be expected. Also, industry expert Andrei Velichko noted that all KAZ capacities are currently occupied by state defense orders, so the release of the Tu-214 will have to wait.
Against this background, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev stated that the airline S7 ordered 100 Tu-214 aircraft from KAZ. It was not possible to get a comment from the carrier about these plans.
