On the territory of the Khabarovsk priority development area in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, the site is being cleared and infrastructure is being created for a new aircraft manufacturing plant. Domestic multi-purpose LMS-901 "Baikal" will be built there.
Currently, the construction site is being cleared, a fence and an access road to it are being built, and power supply is being provided to the future plant. They want to complete the construction and installation work on the construction of the production building for the "Baikals" in June 2025, therefore, since the beginning of 2024, work at the construction site has been going on around the clock.
The cost of the project, which, in addition to the plant, includes an assembly test center and an aviation training center for the training of flight and technical personnel, is 2.2 billion rubles. Of these, the investor, under an agreement with the FEDC, invests 500 million rubles in the launch of a new enterprise. 80 people will be able to work at the facility when it is built.
LMS-901 "Baikal" is a light multi-purpose aircraft designed for use on local airlines and aviation works. It can carry a maximum of 9 passengers or up to 2 tons of cargo to a range of up to 3 thousand kilometers. "Baikal" is hardy: it can be operated on unpaved runways, release ski or float landing gear. Its cruising speed is 300 km/h.
LMS-901 "Baikal" should replace Soviet An-2 " кукурузник" aircraft in Russia. They are included in flight programs gradually, as they are assembled. It is known that, for example, the airline "Aurora" will receive the first five "Baikals" in 2025.
