The newest "Banderol" cruise missiles can now presumably be used by heavy Mi-28 combat helicopters. This was reported by "Voennaya Khronika" with reference to foreign sources.
Apparently, the missile is connected to the Mi-28 via a detachable electrical connector. Through this cable, the helicopter's onboard computer powers the missile's electronics, performs diagnostics, warms up the seeker head, and synchronizes the missile's inertial navigation system with the helicopter's navigation.
The next logical question is the possibility of integrating "Banderol" into other types of Russian army aviation.
Initially, information appeared online that "Banderol" was allegedly used by Su-25 attack aircraft and even Orion reconnaissance drones.
The official characteristics of "Banderol" have not yet been disclosed. Military analysts suggested that the fuselage length is about 5 m, and it was made with stealth elements. The wingspan of the retractable wing is 2.2 m. Fuel reserve is 50–65 kg, flight range is 500 km.
