The European Union has imposed sanctions against Russian technology companies Aquarius and Angstrem, which are involved in the production of computer equipment and microelectronics. Igor Yanakevich, CEO of Aquarius, was also subject to restrictions. The corresponding decision was published in the Official Journal of the European Union.

Aquarius produces computers, laptops, servers, and other equipment for Russian organizations and government customers. Angstrem specializes in the production of microelectronics, including integrated circuits. The EU included both companies in the sanctions lists, classifying them as part of the Russian military-industrial complex.
The restrictions provide for the freezing of assets under the jurisdiction of the European Union, as well as a ban on providing funds and economic resources to the companies. For the sanctioned executive, an additional ban on entry into EU countries applies.
The decision was part of a large-scale expansion of the sanctions lists on October 12. In total, the European Union included 826 Russian companies and 743 company executives. The restrictions are primarily aimed at organizations that, according to European authorities, are involved in the production of components for military equipment, including electronics and communications equipment.
How the new measures will affect the supply of components and the production of equipment by Aquarius and Angstrem is not yet known.
