Rocket engineer and author of the Telegram channel "Russian Engineer" Alexander Vasiliev said that the Geran strike UAV is essentially a "light cruise missile." According to him, the vast majority of components of this device are produced in Russia.
The design uses a minimum amount of imported components, among which there are no critical positions that could create vulnerability in case of possible supply restrictions.
Of particular interest, according to the expert, is the current production cooperation and scaling capabilities. In the near future, the emergence of new weapons is expected, including the development of the "Banderol" project - a simple, cheap and mass-produced rocket, which, it is claimed, surpasses "Geran" in efficiency. At the same time, its production can be established at existing production facilities without significant additional costs.
Recall that according to the characteristics from open sources, the flight range of "Banderol" is 500 km, the ammunition carries a 150-kg high-explosive fragmentation warhead OFBCh-150. The missile carriers are the Orion UAV, with the prospect of installation on Mi-28N helicopters.
