The team of designers at UEC-STAR (part of the United Engine Corporation of Rostec) was awarded the "Aircraft Builder of the Year 2024" prize in the category "For Achievements in the Development of Aviation Technology and Components (Design Bureau of the Year)" for creating the SAU-35 automatic control system for the PD-35 engine.
As part of the SAU-35 project, engineers developed the RED-35 electronic regulator, which ensures high-precision engine operation, and also created hydromechanical units - the BN-35 pump unit and the DT-35 fuel dispenser. Only Russian components and element base were used, which ensured independence from imports. For testing, production was prepared and new stands were built to test electronic and hydromechanical units.
Technological achievements of the SAU-35 include the development of electronic units capable of operating at temperatures from 85°C to 125°C, the selection of materials to protect printed circuit boards and electronic components, and the creation of mathematical and software for controlling traditional and low-emission combustion chambers.
Optimization of fuel distribution through the manifolds ensures stable combustion with minimal emissions of harmful substances.
ПД-35 is the first Russian gas turbine power plant with high thrust, which will become the basis for a promising family of turbofan engines in the thrust range from 24 to 38 tons for promising wide-body passenger and transport aircraft.
