The new AT2S-2800/650 traction synchronous unit has passed testing. The power plant was found to meet all technical requirements. This was reported by the press service of Transmashholding.
AT2S-2800/650 is an important component of the 18-9DGM-02 diesel generator, designed for the new TE26 freight and passenger main-line diesel locomotive.
The design of the AT2S-2800/650 unit consists of a 2800 kW traction synchronous generator and a 650 kW auxiliary synchronous generator. It operates as an electric motor when starting the diesel engine, and also powers DC traction motors, power supply systems for passenger cars, and the locomotive's own needs circuits.
The next stage is certification of the unit. After that, the company will begin production of a pilot batch of AT2S-2800/650.
