Tankers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation equipped a T-80BV tank with BRAT dynamic protection from a captured M2A2 ODS-SA Bradley infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) of American production. The images appeared on social networks.
The tank received new side screens with BRAT blocks, which could have been removed from a Bradley that came into the military's possession. It is likely that the tank was modified in the field.
Also, a large frame can be seen on the turret of the vehicle, which may serve as a preparation for creating an anti-drone "barbecue grill."
The standard Bradley Reactive Armor Tiles (BRAT) kit includes 96 parts that protect the vehicle from rocket-propelled grenades and HEAT projectiles.
The protection element consists of a layer of explosive and two metal plates between them. When the module is hit, the BRAT element is detonated, and its plate destroys the shaped charge jet.
