The airline "Aeroflot" has increased the order for MC-21-310 aircraft manufactured by the Irkutsk Aviation Plant to 200 aircraft. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexander Savelyev.
According to him, the current situation in the global market has once again demonstrated the vulnerability of dependence on foreign components.
We must have our own aircraft completely, because otherwise we can simply be cut off from the market for spare parts and components.
Savelyev added that the domestic aviation industry deserves only respect for the quality and pace of import substitution.
MC-21 is a serious competitor to Boeing and Airbus, and it is also being created using domestic components.
As a reminder, last week the second prototype MC-21-310 took to the skies in an import-substituted version, but without replacing five critical systems. Employees of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant worked around the clock to get the second test aircraft into the sky as quickly as possible. Yakovlev also noted that the aircraft's tests will be completed on two aircraft.
