He called the flight of the second import-substituted MC-21 on the morning of October 28 a great victory for the Yakovlev Design Bureau and dozens of teams of system and unit developers.

At the moment, our main task is the speedy and successful completion of certification flights. We will fly actively with two aircraft. The task is to ensure the safety of future operation, so that the liners can be put on the line as soon as possible.
Vadim Badeha, head of UAC

Badeha added that the Russian aviation industry is the only one in the world that can produce modern civilian aircraft, relying entirely on its own strength.

On board the second experimental MC-21, the operation of new domestic systems and PD-14 engines were tested. The aircraft will join the certification test program in addition to the first experimental MC-21.

Earlier www1.ru reported that UAC engineers underwent retraining for the tasks of future aviation projects.
