Geoscan, in collaboration with Gonets Satellite System (part of Roscosmos), has successfully conducted tests of high-speed data transmission on small spacecraft. The testing took place on the Geoscan-4 and Geoscan-5 satellites, launched in the summer of 2025, using transceivers from the Gonets system.
During the experiment, a series of communication sessions were conducted in the S-band (2–4 GHz) with various modes and data transfer rates — up to 1 Mbps. The S-band is considered optimal for controlling and managing satellites in orbit, as well as for organizing mobile satellite communications, experts note.
The transceivers have proven their functionality, and we have confirmed the possibility of installing similar equipment on other small spacecraft
He added that further stages of the experiment will provide statistical data necessary for modeling перспективных satellite systems.
One of the testing stages involves receiving signals from spacecraft using Roscosmos' ground infrastructure, which will allow assessing the efficiency of data transmission in real conditions.
