Dates Named for Equipping Be-200 Aircraft with Russian PD-8 Engines

The amphibious aircraft may receive the power plant in 2028-2030

The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations aims to receive a new batch of Be-200 amphibious aircraft with Russian RD-8 engines, according to the head of the ministry, Alexander Kurenkov. The authors of the publication "Technosphere Russia" discussed when the aircraft might receive domestic power plants.

According to them, the development work on the PD-8 on the Be-200 aircraft is not just a technical re-engining project. It also involves a new engine control system and differences in the dimensions and design between the engines.

So there is enough work to do. We won't make predictions, but our aircraft and engine building industries have been pleasantly surprising in recent years, and the appearance of a flying Be-200 with PD-8 could very well happen in 2028-2030.
