The "Atom" electric car from "Kama" stands out among its counterparts with unique engineering solutions. One of them is the door opening system for a body without a central pillar. Auto journalist Maxim Kadakov tested how it works. It turned out that the mechanism needs to be improved.
In the "Atom", the opening of the rear doors depends on the front ones. First, the front door swings open 45 degrees, only after that can the rear passengers exit. The car doors are equipped with electric drives for ease of boarding and alighting. The manufacturer assures that the opening and closing mechanism can withstand at least 100,000 cycles.
However, journalist Maxim Kadakov noticed some significant shortcomings during the testing process.
The door closes with a crash, as this is not the final solution. Our front door didn't close again.
Presumably, the developers will take into account the problems encountered by the journalist, and such shortcomings will be eliminated by the start of mass production of the car.
