В электромобиле «Атом» применят горячештампованные детали — но пока из Китая

High-strength steel will ensure body rigidity

The "Atom" electric car is planned to use hot-stamped steel elements, including two lower body crossbars, a door opening, as well as reinforcements in the doors and on the roof.

These components are made of high-strength 22MnB5 steel with a yield strength of over 980 MPa, which ensures high rigidity and structural safety. However, there is no mass production of hot stamping in Russia, so these elements will be imported from China.

The lack of domestic capacity for hot stamping is due to the fact that suppliers are ready to organize the production of the required steel only if there are guarantees of large volumes of orders, which cannot be provided at the current stage. As a result, Kama, the developer of Atom, will purchase the necessary components from foreign suppliers from friendly countries.

Mass production of "Atom" electric vehicles is planned to be organized at the Moscow automobile plant "Moskvich" from the third quarter of 2025. The basic version of the car includes an extensive set of ADAS assistants, including adaptive cruise control, automatic parking, lane monitoring and obstacles. In addition, it is planned to release four versions of the electric car: "Family", "Delivery", "Taxi" and a car-sharing option.
