Still in the Sky: Predictions of SSJ-100 Grounding Did Not Come True

Three years ago, Yakovlev believed that fewer than 100 SSJ-100 aircraft would remain in the sky by 2025

The initial negative forecast regarding the number of withdrawn SSJ-100 aircraft, made in 2022, did not come true. This was stated by Vasily Prutkovsky, Managing Director of PJSC Yakovlev.

According to him, when sanctions pressure began on Russia, there was no panic in the company.

Now I can say that against the forecast that was in 2022, conditionally in the spring of 2022, we believed that there would be fewer than 100 aircraft on the wing by this point, now there are 150 on the wing.

Rostec stated that they expect to launch serial production of the SSJ-100 aircraft with the Russian PD-8 engine in early 2026. A prototype of the SSJ-100 passenger aircraft with the domestic PD-8 engine has already made its first test flight.

Earlier www1.ru reported that UAC increased the capacity of SSJ-100 aircraft thanks to a new 100-seat layout.
