An engineer from "ODK-Aviadvigatel" participated in the design and development of the hot section of the PD-8 aircraft engine. This was reported by the United Engine Corporation (ODK).
The creation of the PD-8 engine became possible, including thanks to specialists from "ODK-Aviadvigatel". They shared their experience in designing and developing the hot section — the combustion chamber, the high-pressure turbine — as well as the nacelle and drive unit, with the lead developer — "ODK-Saturn".
I have been involved in the PD-8 project for five years. I can confidently say that I participated in the "laying of the foundation" of the project and its further development.
Specifically for the PD-8, ODK-Aviastroitel upgraded the test bench and successfully conducted tests on the low-pressure turbine shaft rupture, and tests to measure emissions.
The first flight with PD-8 engines took place in Komsomolsk-on-Amur last week. The plane was in the air for about 40 minutes, reached an altitude of up to 3,000 m and a speed of 500 km/h.
