Россиянам могут разрешить не платить по кредитам, взятым из-за мошенников

Draft law on protecting citizens from credit fraud will be considered next week

In Russia, there are plans to exempt citizens from repaying loans if they have fallen victim to fraudsters.

For this to happen, the following conditions must be met: the loan was taken out under pressure from fraudsters, a criminal case was opened regarding the theft, and the bank did not conduct a proper check before issuing the loan. The second reading of the bill aimed at protecting citizens from such cases will take place next week.

In the coming week, the State Duma intends to consider in the second reading a bill aimed at protecting citizens from fraudsters who force people to take out loans.

Several amendments have been prepared for the second reading. One of the key changes is the provision that if the lender did not conduct the necessary checks and this led to the initiation of a criminal case regarding the theft of funds, the borrower is exempt from payments under the loan agreement.

Additionally, to improve security when issuing loans, it is planned to require borrowers to provide their TIN (Taxpayer Identification Number) when applying to financial organizations. This will allow for more accurate identification of citizens and protect them from fraudulent activities.
