A system for organizing the work of media outlets, AxioCat, has been presented in Russia. It will help large and small editorial offices across the country organize their work more efficiently. The AxioCat solution, based on Linux Alt OS and PostgreSQL DBMS, is already included in the Unified Register of Programs for Electronic Computers and Databases.
According to the developers' estimates, AxioCat will save editorial offices up to 30% of working time. The system allows you to:
- create a unified database of topics, articles, and materials;
- organize a structured chat for discussing materials;
- collect statistics and reports;
- work according to templates;
- establish the uploading of any publications from the system in any form: to the electronic version, to the website, etc.
- create automatic generation of pages in PDF format;
- configure the uploading of photos for processing in an external editor;
- search for photos in an external photo bank.
The program is suitable for both media holdings and mini-editorial offices, and its deployment takes only a few hours. The main workplace for this is a web client. There is also the AxioView mobile application. With it, a media employee can participate in layout, add and receive comments even away from the work computer.
AxioCat supports electronic signing of the page for printing. The editor and proofreader can see the material in the form in which it will be published and make edits directly in the layout process. After sending to print, program users can see who, when, and what changes were made to the materials.
The editorial system supports Adobe products that have officially left but are still necessary for work: InDesign, InCopy, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Without Adobe InDesign for layout and Adobe InCopy for editing, the system cannot yet do without.
The developers reported that in the next stage of work on the project, they will abandon Adobe products for layout in favor of Scribus, although the latter is inferior in functionality.
