Air Coolers with Flow-Through Cooling System Developed for Russian D100 Engine

Devices with technical water are installed in pairs on both sides of the engine and operate as heat exchangers

KMZ has developed a device for cooling air in D100 diesel engines, which are installed on locomotives, river and sea vessels.

According to the developers, the air coolers are installed in pairs on both sides of the engine, have a symmetrical design and are used to cool the charge air. Each air cooler consists of a welded housing, cooling tubes, covers and seals. Technical water is used as a coolant.

The device works as a heat exchanger: water enters through a pipe in the lower cover, passes through the air cooler tubes and exits through a pipe in the upper cover. Cooled air enters the diesel air receiver through windows.

Earlier, KMZ reported that it will manufacture cylinder liners with integrated cooling for the DN23/30 engine. It is used in locomotives and marine installations.
