Ural has tested its new transport for Arctic exploration, which was created in collaboration with SUSU and MSTU named after E. Bauman. The road train with an electric winch for eight tons and a semi-trailer with comfort for passengers and the driver withstood the Arctic off-road conditions and the temperature outside the window at -50 degrees Celsius.
The base of the design is a semi-trailer truck with a 6x6 wheel arrangement and a semi-trailer with an active drive. The semi-trailer can be of various purposes: a medical center, a dining room, an educational lecture hall, and so on.
The 72 kW active drive of the semi-trailer helps to overcome difficult sections along the way, it is powered by its own 100 kW diesel generator set. The tractor itself has two fuel tanks, which are enough for a distance of up to 500 km.
