The Su-34 multirole fighter-bombers and Su-35 multi-purpose super-maneuverable fighters use Western-made electronics, according to Defense blog military expert Dylan Malyasov, citing a report by Belgian experts.
The report states that components manufactured in the USA, Germany, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea ended up in Russian aircraft, despite strict export controls.
Belgian specialists identified 1115 components in the Su-34 and Su-35, linking them to 141 manufacturers, including Analog Devices, Texas Instruments, Murata, Maxim, OnSemi, Intel and Vicor.
According to them, 62.3% of American microcircuits, 18.4% of Japanese, and 7.7% of European microcircuits were found in the Su-35S. In the Su-34, the share of American components allegedly amounted to 68%, Japanese - 16.2%, European - 7%. Swiss, Taiwanese and South Korean parts were also installed in the aircraft.
The investigation revealed complex supply chains through which Russia continues to receive these components. Customs data showed that Russian importers purchase critical components through intermediary countries such as China, Hong Kong, Turkey, the UAE and a number of European countries. In 2023 alone, Russia received more than 180,000 shipments of priority microelectronics with a total value of about $805.6 million.
