Demand for new Russian regional aircraft "Baikal" and "Osvey" has already been formed for the next decade. According to Dmitry Yadrov, head of Rosaviatsia, airlines plan to purchase 128 aircraft by 2035.
If we talk about "Baikal", today the requests from our airlines are for 69 aircraft and about 59 "Osvey" aircraft.
These figures were announced by the agency's leadership during the "Innoprom – 2026" industry forum, where the development of small and regional aviation and the renewal of the aircraft fleet were discussed.
The light nine-seater "Baikal" is considered as a basic platform for short routes and hard-to-reach destinations, where efficiency and the ability to operate with limited infrastructure are critical. The more capacious "Osvey" should cover the next segment of regional transportation and expand the route network between small cities.
Against the background of these plans, the terms for commissioning the equipment are also being clarified: certification of "Baikal" is expected in 2027, and "Osvey" closer to the end of 2029. Thus, the market is already forming a long-term need for the renewal of the regional aircraft fleet.
