Russia hopes that the American company JP Morgan will unblock the frozen funds intended for the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant. This was stated by Alexey Ivanov, Chargé d'Affaires of the Russian Federation in Turkey.
After Siemens' refusal, Rosatom was forced to turn to other reliable equipment suppliers. JP Morgan blocked the allocation of $2 billion, which was supposed to be spent on construction.
Ivanov noted that Russia is satisfied with the work with the Turkish side on the NPP project, and the first power unit has reached a readiness level of 99%.
It was also noted that illegal sanctions are slowing down the implementation of the nuclear project and hindering trade relations. Since the introduction of restrictions, Russia has regularly discussed this issue within the framework of interdepartmental consultations. But the problem has not yet been resolved.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Turkey is waiting for the commissioning of the Akkuyu NPP, which is being built by Rosatom.
